If your website has an on-site search box, it makes good business sense to report on the search terms that customers are using on your site. Capturing these search terms with Webtrends Analytics may be easier than you think. If the search results URL contains the visitor's search term (ex: a search on your site for pumpkins returns the URL ) , reporting on your on-site search terms is as easy as reporting on a parameter in the query string.
| Step 1: Create a custom report based on the query parameter 'q'. In the administrative console, go to Web Analysis > Report Configuration > Custom Reports > Reports. Click on 'New' and follow the steps in the Custom Report Wizard to create a new custom report for on-site search terms based on the query parameter 'q'. View screenshot |
